The Maillard Reaction

I've been using one of these:

Seems to work ok.

I wouldn't mind one of these:

I think they sound pretty good on drums.

A lot of guys are just waiting to be asked.

It might be a surprisingly affordable way to get just the sound you are looking for.

I play this loudly into the drum room in order to identify and eliminate any unwanted sympathetic overtones and vibrations.

Can I get one of those for my bass?

Just use the same ones.  They are all 'standard' these days.

But the only one I have is a left handed one I bought by mistake. It's all backwards.

OK, I know this thread is aloof ... but I'd like some techniques intermingled ... else send this to the CH.

Transient shapers have helped me (like based on Danny's deleted video on the UAD transient VST):  So has the UAD VOG (a low freq enhancer) ... for the tinny kick drums that I've recently 'discovered' in my old mixes.

Its interesting how tinny and 'classicoid' the Superior Drummer kicks have been to my ears of late ... after delving into rex/rx2 samples and such.

For future tidiness, I'll probably run 3 main drum tracks: (1) kick, (2) snare, (3) 'everything else'.  (Just a thought).
