The Maillard Reaction
"I'd like some techniques intermingled"

Righty makes it boingy but you can keep going until it makes it strident.

Lefty makes it less boingy but you can keep going until it makes it flatulent.

If you are reaching around and tuning the resonators from the top the directions are reversed

I've been trying to figure out how to discourage the 16" and 18" Toms from resonating when I hit the kick, but they get excited.

The kick sounds good but it excites the tom toms and I get a ring from them. The thing is, the Toms sound real good so I don't want to deaden them just for the kick.

The OH mics get a full natural sound and the ringing isn't an issue at all, but the kick mic does hear it a bit.

I put a tent blanket over the kick, and the kick mic, and the solo sounds good.

I used the T wrench to try different tensions with the kick and Toms but I resorted to the blanket as that seemed to let me have each drum sound it's best.

regards,
mike

I've been using Superior Drummer 2.0.  Evidently one of their guys has one of those windy-up-and-down things in the original post.

Why do we need drums to sound good?

It's not like they're instruments or anything.

To drown out the crap bass player, rather than to hurt his feelings by having to fire him.

Everybody knows that, 'cept Bass players, so don't tell any of them whatever you do.

I've been using one of these:

Seems to work ok.

Interestingly enough, bass guitars come with at least FOUR of those things, permanently attached for handy access. I have, however, never seen one in actual use.

I don't know any real bass players.
