Can anybody help me?

I have a friend who owns a cafe, he is playing spotify and wants 2 to 4 wireless speakers for one large room which is quite large and has plenty of reflections. I guess we will have to buy a tablet and plug in a mini jack into it. Also it's got to be cheap...!

This being a coffee shop it's just background music so sound quality only needs to be only half decent and he's on a tight budget!

Thanks

Alex

it'd be cheaper to wire speakers from a typical boom box.

Go to the Alto web site, they sell exactly what he needs. I think it's not a common product other than bluetooth which would be probably too small.

Alto powered speakers are getting good reviews. I'm thinking of getting a pair. ( not wireless) All the stores say they have sold a lot of them and none have come back so far. And best of all they are as cheap as you can get. Same price as the "B" brand.

Thanks. First thing I did was recommend cable but he wants wireless.
Speakers don't need to be powerful BTW, rather they need to be cheap :) It's mainly for muzak. Thanks...

Thanks

Is he happy changing batteries twice a day?  Or would he rather run mains cable to powered speakers than speaker cable to passive ones?

I used to work for a Jukebox and background music company.  What he wants will be bad.  He is going to have to spend $$ for even a basic system for background music.  Put up a cheap speaker system and it will be crap (and could even drive away customers).

Wireless may work but it needs to be a decent system and that means spending $$.

For playing Muzak in a business he could ask a professional audio contractor. They specialize in these systems and have all the proper info.
Now we have wireless and cat5 systems. But you won't find these products in a music store or at Radio Shack. It's a specialty industry that's a sub set of being an audio engineer, contractor, installer.
Example TOA, Factor, Erickson Commercial,

But that said most Cafes have a cheap getto blaster and run undersized wire into a bunch of plastic speakers (2 ohm load ??)  and seems to work fine.
Blue tooth will be the only choice at the low end of things.

If he wants cheap he should forget about wireless. You can score an old amp, two passive speakers, and cable for a pittance these days and then the system is self contained. All he needs is the input source. The speakers can get signal with just speaker wire (ie, no power needed) and he get something good sounding.

Wireless though? That's current technology and will cost him money. But if he really wants to save money I'd just get a FoxL or two. Super small and big sound. You gotta recharge them, which will get annoying, but they're super portable.

Finally managed to convince him to go wired (he looked at this post and saw everybody had similar opinions)... He will be able to obtain a half decent system now rather than a sh1ty cheapo wireless system. Thanks to all.
