Here's a question for you guys: is there such a thing as a portable interface that can provide 6, or preferably 8, independently assignable ANALOG outs (1/4" would be best), while being bus-powered over USB?

MOTU UltraLite-mk3 comes to mind...
(especially since I use one)

Unfortunately from what I understand it does not work bus-powered over USB, only over Firewire.....

Since I'm using it as a firewire device, I don't know if that's true or not but it is a great interface!

The Fireface UCX operates in three different modes: driver-based USB 2, stand-alone mode, and
Class Compliant mode. (so does the UFX).
 
You will have to read about any of it.
 
Of course there are others probably out there also.

 I just have the Babyface which is Class Compliant now also, but not Dur-ec whatever record option like the UFX, in which I think you can stick in a memory card (like a camera ?) and record with the unit probably in Stand-Alone Mode all by its self. Have to ask one of the people here that own one or at a dealer about any of that.

Guys, I need one that's BUS-POWERED, meaning it can be powered from a USB port without needing a separate power supply!!!!!! RME is awesome but......
