Enjoyed it...thx for sharing.  At first I thought maybe the gtr was too low in the mix....but it was fine overall...I never heard crackling on my cans (at least not at that 7minish area...have to try the beginning again sometime).
...nice peaceful track :o)

Initially l look at the 11:00 minute time and had second thoughts about playing it as I was in a rush.  However, I played it and was glad that I did.  I love the drone sound in it --- it sets a very comforting mood.  I like how around the 5:00 mark the drone becomes a more integral part of the song and then relaxes for a bit.
Excellent stuff.

Another very nice piece, Andy!   I'd have to re-listen to a few others to be sure, but this may be one of my favorites from you.  Something about it just resonates...

The clean guitar tone + FX work great over the drone, which with that automation has almost has a bit of a didgeridoo feel to it.     At spots the piece reminded me a little of an old Jon Anderson album called Olias of Sunhillow.

Hiya Steve,

Thanks for having a listen to Ianira. Yeah, I put a lot of effort into the drone this time, compared to Corona, for instance.

If you get a chance, I'd love your thoughts on the next ambient guitar piece I created. It's called Idyia and I posted the link to it on this forum and it is currently languishing at the bottom of the page. For some reason it got plenty of views, but no comments. So it either got missed, or it just didn't come up to scratch this time. I could have bumped the post back up to the top but I hate it when people do that, so I've let it gradually sink to the bottom.

Thanks for the reference to Jon Anderson. I was a big Yes fan but I never bothered checking out any of their solo works. I'll google that and have a listen.

Cheers,

Hello there Steve,

Thanks so much for stepping in here and listening to Ianira. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I admit that the guitar is a bit low in places, but it was a conscious decision because on one of my earlier tracks (Corona) I thought the lead guitar was a little bit too prominent.

What I am doing now on these kind of pieces is let the drone take centre stage, for at least some of the time. I also leave a lot more space between each phrase.

Thanks again for listening.

cheers

Hi Fred,

Yeah, I know that the length of some (probably most) of my tracks is a big turn off. I could certainly have made this a much shorter piece, for sure, but I love creating these drones which slowly evolve over time. Playing my guitar over the top is just a bit of embellishment in a way and I need the practice haha!

Thanks for listening and I am so glad that you liked it

Hey, Andy,

Nice to see you back on the forum, my friend!

I really love the solitude of this interesting, tastefully done ambient track with a classic cinematic feel, that I could easily imagine hearing in a film soundtrack.

The reverbed PRS sounds beautiful, like delicate fine crystal over the fluctuation of the drone track to create a lot more depth and texture than you would expect from just two tracks, and it shapes up nicely into a very pleasant piece of music.

Great work, Andy, have a good one!

Hiya Bob!

Yeah, some would say I've been bombarding the forum with my "stuff" lately haha! I can go quite a while between pieces and then all of a sudden I've got new pieces coming from seemingly nowhere

Thanks so much for listening Bob. You are a great player yourself so it always makes me smile when you comment on my humble guitar pieces

And yeah, that PRS is a great guitar... I am not worthy of such an instrument haha! I only justify my ownership by saying that it is a beautiful work of art

cheers, and thanks again,

andy
