So... is that early Kansas piece remixed with a small orchestra?   Just curious.

Great stuff as always, Dan.   Like others I'd be hard-pressed to find anything whatsoever I didn't like about it.  Just a great melding of styles and genres, performance and arrangement, and superbly mixed to boot.

Hey Dan...really nice work my friend.  I like the flow and progression of the tune, and it kept my interest.  A few little crits-  the tune sounded a tad high-mids harsh to my ears at the very beginning, but then mellowed out a little ways in.  I would liked to have heard the lead instruments (like the violin) be dead center (as a soloist) instead of being 'virtual center" by having the voice be so stereo (I know it sounds good when we listen to our synths in stereo like that, but as a lead voice, I sometimes have to get more mono with them.)  Being dead center lets the listener know this is a solo and not part of the background.
Just my opinion though.  Keep up the good work, and congrats on finding the fortitude to finish one out.  :-)

Thanks Steve! There are definite Kansas influences, though I think at the time I first started on this, I was in my "I Love Genesis" phase, lol.

Thanks Tony! Yes, I like a bump around 2k in my mixes. I think it opens it up somewhat, but can definitely sound harsh if you are sensitive to it or I've gone to far. I used Waves Enigma on the violin to give it some motion and that's likely what you are hearing. Since I don't have a vocal, I like having the lead be a bit bigger than it would otherwise be.
