Okay...
So I've never done this (so I'm a little nervous).
On the advice of Wookie, Dan Cumpian, Walt and others here's my latest composition entitled "When you Embrace Me"..

Hope you like it.

OK, I'll bite...   I think the piece stands as is, but personally I'd really like to hear it with fretless bass (or similar) since it seems to be missing a solid bottom end.  There are also a few dissonances between piano and guitar here and there that seem to be intentional based on passing tones, but aren't as "smooth" as the overall feel of the tune which has a nice and silky R&B groove happening.  That's completely subjective though.

Steve,
Thanks for commenting.  I totally get what you're saying.  Didn't necessarily want a bottom end on this piece, but I get where you going with that.
Yeah, the passing tones were a bit intentional as I fussed with them for a while before determining that I should go with my gut and leave some of the music theory out of it.

Really tho.  Thanks for the comments.  Well received.

Hey Arlen
I really like this - personally I like the changes - really cool.
Something in there reminded me of early Prince - do you know the track 'Crazy You'?  - One of my favourite all time songs.

Hey Daryl!
Yeah!  I remember that track!  Prince was an early influence of mine so I'll take that.
Thanks for stopping by.  Really appreciate the response (and the listen!)

Hi Arlen, nice tune, I like it. Guitar could use a bit of reverb imho. Ending is a bit abrupt. This has a nice groove to it. Is the guitar a vsti ?

This works well for what you intended. I'd like to hear it more fully realized though. Also, the guitar is somewhat lacking in dynamics, and there were parts where I thought a slurred note or two would have improved the feel. It's a good start, now the refining process begins

Dan

Hi Rik, Yes it's a VST (3rd party) in Kontakt from Elya Efimov.  I've used a couple of different types, but have found this one more to my liking.  Didn't want to wet down the guitar though.  I like that "in your  face" sound more.

Thanks Dan for chiming in.  I hear ya.  And after reading some of the stories here about how long some songs take to materialize, I understand your point (this song was composed/completed over 2 years ago).  I get the slurred note part (will have to keep that in mind for later comps).  Yes.  Refining.

Well first off, Arlen, this being your maiden voyage, welcome to the forum as a writer/artist.  One of the cool things about this place is watching people's art evolve.  This was a great start for you.  I really enjoyed the piece.
