Ya.

I learned to keep playing when I got lost years ago because most people wouldn't notice anyway.

The problem is when some of the other musicians were foolish enough to be following me (of all people).

This is exactly the problem with mis-takes.  I had a bass player in a big band I played in who was exceedingly good.  He used to try to throw me and the drummer off for sh**s and giggles.  Isn't that schadenfreude, Pedro?

Maybe we can get Kanye to explain Tony's post to Pedro.

Tony's still one of my favorite bassists (that doesn't post here for some reason).

Tony blair? He has no credibility

I often give students two bits of advice about playing live:

1) Don't give anything away
2) Don't give anything away

1) refers to not practicing that hard bit from the next song before you play it, so that the audience knows what you are about to play, even before it is announced,
and
2) refers to not letting on that you, or another member of the band, have messed up.  99.9% of the time, nobody will notice..

Back to Tony - I loved the story in Bill Bruford's autobiography about the Al DiMeola session with Tony Levin.

Well this is a lot easier to do in a genre where a Major#11 is acceptable.
