btw... that's actually how I did my "tremolo/divebombs" for many many years... much to the terror of my guitar nerd compatriates (who thought I was about to snap the neck of whatever guit I was manhandling).
SG's (and other slim necked Gibby's) are great for that shiznizzle.
Now... I have "whammy" bar (non locking because those are a PITA) but I pretty much just use it to emulate what I'd normally do reefing on the neck.
