New toys arrive tomorrow:

Korg Volca Beats:

Korg Volca Bass:

The Volca Keys is on back order.

I pre-ordered them in May and expected them in July. :-)

I sure hope they work better than my new laptop.

Getting more heavy into synths Mike? I don't know about that thing but it looks like it might be similar to the moog boxes.

It's more like I am getting really enthused about the availability of new analog synths.

These boxes are miniaturized analog circuits inspired by the early 1980's Roland stuff. They are also relatively cheap... and I was quoted a nice pre order discount price last May and just actually paid for them last week.

I've been into synths since I was 10 years old. When the Roland stuff was hot I was 20ish but I couldn't afford it. Now that same Roland stuff is fetching collector prices and I choose not to afford it. I'm kind of excited that a couple manufacturers are using modern cost saving construction, digital tuning and other control, and all analog sound paths in relatively affordable gear.

I'm excited to be able to get back to making synth sounds with out sitting in front of a computer... and even more excited to be able to share them with guests.

As an aside, I've considered my electric guitar pedal board a modular synthesizer for about as long as I can remember.

all the best,
mike

That Vulca Beat certainly looks, sounds and functions almost exactly like the Roland TR-606 'Drumatix' I bought circa 1982. Sold that and a SH-101 a couple of years ago, for more money than I paid for them.. to a DJ.

Don't recall actually Mike. They closed 27 years ago according to google. so, it's all a little blurry......:)
Last time I was down that way was to see Larry Carlton at a little club. 2003 or so.
