@emeraldsoul - Thanks Tom! You know I love your work and always appreciate your thoughts.
@eph221 - Thank you for the listen and your creative ideas. Your comments are appreciated!
@synkrotron - Thanks Andy. I wish I had your patience with music, as evidenced by so many of your songs. I'm trying to let things breathe more and not be so rush rush rush getting to the next theme all the time. Like you, I'm not trying to write pop songs any more.
@evadianepug - Hey thanks Warren. I'm in a slow car, parked in the bushes just off camera. ;) I've been trying to distance myself from my long-practiced pop/rock/blues tendencies and gravitate more towards IDM/ambient. It's a whole new way of thinking, but I admit it's not for everyone.
@dcumpian - Thanks Dan. I've been trying to use guitar more in my electronic music, so I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm not a super fast picker, so I mostly try to play melodically, and I think it works well with the synths that way.
@Passive Drift - Appreciate your comments Dave! Yeah the car sound bytes were fun. They're part of a big licensed sound FX library I bought a while back, called "The General Series 6000" (
https://www.sound-ideas.com/Product/42/General-Series-6000 ). It was kinda expensive, but it's really served me well over many years now. The sounds are well indexed, and high quality. Every time I go in there I find something useful, and it makes my stuff more fun and interesting.
@BMOG - Thanks for listening, and glad you found it relaxing. :)
@skinnybones lampshade - Thanks Laura! I really appreciate you adding your creativity here. I'd certainly love to hear this on a spy movie or tv show. :)
@daryl1968 - Thanks Daryl, glad you liked it! Being more of an IDM track I kind of expect many of the folks here (who have more Pop/rock preferences) to be a bit bored, expecting something like Verse/chorus/bridge arrangement. This track has more of a building/breakdown/interaction style of production (as most of my electronic pieces do lately).
@jamesyoyo - Thanks James! Actually the hihat was the first two tracks I laid down on this song. I used Addictive Drums, and played the hats using Ableton Push pads, via I think 5 or 6 different hat samples. I thought it came off with a pretty natural feel and decided to use it to drive the song rhythmically, rather than blend into the background. That being said, your astute genre detection powers are noted, and if/when we do a remix on this one I will likely drop a db or two on the hats as you suggest. Thanks!
@Leizer - Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it. :)
@philz - Appreciate the kind words Phil, thanks for taking the time to give it a listen!
@BASSJOKER - Thanks Steve, glad you liked it!
@Wookiee - Thanks John, your words are always appreciated. I promise to make more music soon. :)
