Hi,

I've got another new song ready - for your listening pleasure (or not).
As usual, all feedback (good or bad) is gratefully accepted.

It's called "Post Fact"
and you can find it here:
http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13461283

It features a few synth arpeggiators this time, plus the usual suspects:
Superior drums
Trilian Bass
Omnisphere
Arturia Minimoog
and a real strat and tele through S-Gear amps and Torpedo WOS III Cabinets

and all put together in SONAR Platinum

I like it, some tasty guitar playing on display! I was expecting some trumpisms, given your title. Pretty easy target, which you have nailed, and I don't think it was too heavy handed, just right.

In the first guitar build-up section, it kind of seemed like there were three guitars all jammed together in the middle. You have one that is just hitting a sustained chord - maybe that one is too loud in the mix?
And the others could maybe separate out a little?

This seemed to clear itself up in the second part of the song, after the trumpisms.

Bass g could come up - you have some cool roundwound? bass tone? Or are they brand new flats?

I have no right to say this, given my own AD2 abuse, but your drum loop could switch out for something else a little more.

Kind of had a Rush instrumental vibe to it, moves right along. Good job!

Thanks for listening and for the comments Tom.

Just a couple of things:
- thanks for the feedback on the Trump content. I didn't want to overdo it. (I can always make a "non vocal snippet" version too)
- I thought the guitars were panned enough in that part. I wanted there to be contrast with the different sections. I get a lot of comments about not panning enough though - so maybe ~I need to rethink this.
- the bass software, so I don't know what kind of strings they used when sampling ;-)
- fair comment on the drum part. I was thinking that things were busy enough, and wanted to keep a "lowish" profile with the drum part.

I do appreciate your comments though.

The thing I don't like about the midi groove you used, is that it is pretty non-stop. Lots of busy ghost notes and cymbal hits. If I was playing or programming the drums, I would let the drums breathe a bit here and there by skipping a snare beat or altering the kick beat. That's just me though. The drums sound fine.

I hear what Tom is saying about the guitar pile up in the beginning, but I don't think it is bad. I always enjoy your guitar playing. I thought, overall, this was well put together.

Regards,
Dan

Thanks for listening Dan - and for your comments.

The drum beats are actually meant to play a little slower - but I stuck with them. I was thinking along the lines of being a little repetative, and going along with the synth arpeggiators.

You know how it gets

Interesting, the drums do get a little busy and the middle 8 is perhaps a little more than 8 bars .  Some nice tones and playing good stuff generally thanks for sharing.

Great playing John - I like the dry sound - it gives the overall track more edge.

Thanks a lot for listening wookie, bass an daryl - and for your comments!

It's nowhere near 8 bars, and as a matter of fact it doesn't even follow bars. It's just the arpeggiator running amok with a little keyboard input (and some background noises)

Cool song. Lots of cool elements in it. If you were to change anything in it, I'd start by tuning the guitar and re-tracking it. It is sharp compared to the bass and synth.
