Thanks for listening string jammer - and for the comments.
Do you mean the melody line at the beginning? I'm pretty sure I checked this in Melodyne - because I thought it sounded a little out, and it was in tune.
I just put it down to "one of those things" - because sometimes I hear bass notes out of tune...

Good one, John!   Nice continuation into the synth realm.

While the drums are a bit busy, I like the groove you've assembled between those, the bass and the arps.  Speaking of which, the "wetness" of the arp breakdown section works well.  And of course you've got some tasty guitar parts riding over top, having their own debate on the left and the right.

Hi,
It seems you got great fun to produce this track... Full of joy and energy..
No technical thoughts available from my part,I think that as a skilled musician you know where you want to go.
Good time spent with this piece.
Carry on.
All the best.
Olivier.

Hi Olivier,

Thanks a lot for listening - "non technical" comments are very welcome too! ;-)

I did listen 3 times now and not reading any of the comments above (will do afterwards) so I'll just speak my mind ... well, I have to say I like that a lot. Listening on cans (no www in the studio) it comes across nicely. It's the energy that gets me, yet admittedly I was surprised it's only 4:40 something. It felt longer ... I really wonder how that would do if you swap the drum loop for some real maniac on drums, ditto for the bass. I like the bass licks, yet it could come across less well behaved ... lacking the proper English word here for describing how bass players behave on stage when stuff is just happening later in the evening ;-)

Rob, Markus
Thanks a lot for listening and for your comments.

Rob - you are the first person to suggest that the drums should maybe be *more* busy ;-) Is that what you mean by "real maniac on drums"? I know the drum part is a little busy (as many have said) but I feel that it really pushed things along with the arpeggiated synths. ;-)

I bet it would be great with a real drummer and bass player - but they would bnever fit in my "closet studio" ;-)

I always save these things in case opportunities come up - like replacing parts with real instruments 9or even re-recording everything)

the drums are busy enough as they are, what I was trying to say was more along the line of how it would sound if such a maniac groove ;-) would sound if a real maniac was on it i.e. introducing all these subtle variations just by playing it live vs the perfectness of the programmed version.

having said that pls don't go off listening to my stuff because what you find is dated and also all programmed. I invested most of my time in the past year (almost 2 years now!) in writing and testing material live with a band ... so we ourselves got a big challenge ahead i.e. capturing that now as we finally get down to recording these 12 tracks. last time we failed big time - while we could get the sound, we could not get the performance, so we ended up using MIDI material, loops and sample libs ... meanwhile we forged that project into a real band, so fingers crossed it'll work this time ...

might get back to you on something like that. I sense a shortage of skilled 6 string heroes in my vicinity, in case you are interested in the occasional collaboration ?

Well, at least you didn't say they're *too busy* ;-)

while we could get the sound, we could not get the performance,

that is the magic! Getting both together ;-)

That would be great!
We could also practice rebooting our MOTU devices (see hardware thread)
