Really wished this was as easy. Problem is the new OS wiped out the past so having to reinstall everything new.
Have a backup for win XP to get some files from the disc, but everything toasted otherwise.
 
Struggling with Alchemy now. As a side note, if any of you guys were left in the ditch when Alchemy went down and need a good install of a lost library, I got all of the commercial ones. Let me know and will get it to you if needed.

That was more of a joke towards Bapu, than anything else.
To bad it couldn't have been so easy as to use backup.

Finishing up Kontakt Complete 9 pieces. Stubborn libraries reinstalling, but most of it works.
My old computer doesn't do win 10 support, so had to go with win 7. Too cheap to get rid of my Delta 1010LT card which only fits in a PCI slot but works solid as a rock.
 
Even if can't get to win 10 on the current motherboard, got to say that win 7 is a blessing. Loved win XP but got to let it go. Everything that was crashed in XP is working now. Superior drummer, EZ drummer nightmare all that's left. Might have a working DAW in a couple days.

Kontakt fired up and working... How did I deserve this with only a few glitches and restarts...
Superior Drummer, EZ drummer and the midi loops on tap for tomorrow. Too drink to drunk any more installs today.

The jump from XP to Win7 is a big one. And a good one  It's a great OS!
Glad things are moving along.

(Though, I must admit, I'm still buying computers for clients and requesting Windows 7 instead of 10...)

Yeah, would have gone with Win 10, but the motherboard doesn't support it. Trying to keep my Delta 1010LT card that needs a PCI slot, so stuck with win 7. Big improvement over XP however. Older quad core but still keeping up.
 
Trouble in paradise though. Kontakt most recent has multiple dll failures that I can't repair so far. Older versions work but the upgraded library files are toast. Spent hours today so far rolling back the libraries. I could never tell what was better or worser on the point upgrades though. If older works, okay by me since I'm too dumb to notice a difference.
 
Taking Zargg's advice to do it stoned. Takes a bit of the edge off of the grief.

Cutting my minor losses and calling it a success. Cloned the new monster.
Can't install C++ libraries to allow Kontakt to upgrade to the latest and greatest, but the old Kontakt 5.2.0 works okay. Was a mess installing old libraries. Can't tell what if anything I am being deprived of.
Otherwise Win 7 is cool. Runs everything so far that XP would not. Can keep my Delta 1010LT card and get a few more years out of the dinosaur. Might even outlast me. Great thing at my age is never having to worry about getting anything for the extra price of a 50 year warranty any more.
 
Win XP is a thing of the past for me now.

I just saw my XP install disks (for like 4 computers) the other day.
 
I thought "trow them out". Murphy's Law says keep 'em.
