Here's a question. I have an old Sidewinder 2 I got out of the cupboard today.

Firstly I think I may have found a bug setting up a joystick controller. Set up here:
http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR%20X2&language=3&help=SurroundMixing.12.html
.. and press button 3 (scrub) the audio engine turns of. Can anybody confirm?

I'd also like to be able to move joystick left and right for instance and it rewinds/fast forward but cannot find a way.
Can't get MIDI learn to work either

Another question, has anybody managed to use the joystick in their plugins and find it useful?
What do you use your joystick for? (no dodgy jokes please ).

Cheers...

I don't think you can use it to rewind/ff... Havent found a way for that.
The joystick panner control surface works well as an xy controller in cake synths but I can't seem to get it to work in alchemy or ni or other synths that use xy feedback unless i use a joystick to midi driver. :/
Haven't tried scrub...

I guess most people don't use joysticks then!

Scratched my head and it appears I can get it to act as a controller with Fergo JoystickMIDI and LoopBe1.

No joysticks - I do have a Midi "Brain Jr" connected to a few xy pot controllers for midi.

I would LOVE it if someone could write a driver or converter to midi for a 3D Spaceball

If you can turn it into a joystick the software I quoted above could work.

Thanks - have not seen that.  I have the 3d spaceball 5000 and there *are* drivers to work as joysticks (http://spacemice.org/index.php?title=Main_Page&fwd=wikidot&from=http://spacemice.wikidot.com/) but have not tried them yet.

Can the CW joystick allow map to midi control cc numbers or just surround pan?  I'm interested in controllers for synths like Alchemy vs surround.

I have access to a bunch of the old Spaceballs and may open one up.  I think its just a strain gage(s) that I could (with some work) interface with one of the Livid boxes http://lividinstruments.com/products/builder/
