Hello everybody,

Need some ears for this track. One I wrote with a young Dublin rapper that I met while on my travels a few years back, finally got it together thanks to my musical compadre, James Yoyo, whom helped produce this.

Please give me your thoughts, particularly on the sonic choices and levels, before I wrap it up.

Well...
I, for one, think it sounds splendid.

Seriously, love to hear what you all have to say.

Sounds very nice to my ears. The only thing I'm thinking is that maybe the kick drum could have a little bit more weight to give it a better thump. Other than that everything sounds quite good and balanced.

A very nice track! :)

this, the kick needs more love.  Also on my sh****y speakers  It sounds tinny.  His voice tends towards the tinny ee's and arh arh's (the irish pirate) so you need to soften it a little. :D:D

Yeah, I am using about three different loops at a time for the beatz so the kick was always gonna be problematic. Thought a somewhat soupy low-end was kinda right for the track.

Kuusneimi/eph221,thanks for your input. Didnt overly find the kick too bad, altough it will need to cut through on tinny speakers. The vocals are a little thin, i agree.

Anyone else to offer their opinions?

Just had a listen...   I actually don't mind the kick, though I suppose for a dance-ish track a little more club-like lows might be suitable.   For me the one thing that stood out was actually the delay (and flange?) - it seemed a bit heavy at times, particular for the rap lines.   I kinda picture those drier/dirtier for more edge, and then smoothing out with the sung lines.

Thanks Steve.

ditto, the kick doesnt bother me.

But the vocal could do with a more "upfront" feel to contrast from the smooth pop vocal

Cheers,

Sounds great on the iPad so it must be good! You have a great rapping dialect going there too. Lots of nice elements in there.

Hi Cian,  well I'm not much of a rapper, but this one was quite pleasant.  The mix sounded quite right to me, and the stereo field was balanced.  My main little crit is that the lead vocal could use a little more weight...some low mid, or some saturation/grit, or something....to carry the tune.
Good job!
