Great song, performances and mix all the way around. I think I may have commented on this one long ago. What came to mind is the Doobie Brothers with a riff from ZZ Topp. (Heard it on the X).

Vilovilo
Hi,
What a voice.....
Something wich brings me back to my youth time....( sorry ,sorry I am aware that It is not allways fare to compare to what others did before..) The spirit of Robert Plant is in your body... But you made it yours...
All the best.

Makke
Cool! I liked the melody lines and groovy rhythm. Good vocals and nice guitar solo. Great job and sounds.

hey makke,
this one started out as a full on rocker with full band,
but once i did an acoustic demo of it, it changed completely, so the rhythm was almost easier to define,
and the melody became easier to find as well.

Nice groove....mix...all around balanced and cool...thx for share.
Could ya share couple ??s on the mix/master....ie was it done in Sonar to completion or?
PM if need the details on the downlow... ;o) ...just like to see what kinda trickery at your fingertips as of late .... ;o)  lol   Thx....again....sounds sweet on my stereo...i will give it the Can jam later this eve too....  cheers!

hey joker! thanks for commenting, i'd be happy to answer any questions.....

mix/master:
normally i send my albums out to be mastered, but this one i did myself.
i always work the same way on all releases:

mix in sonar, and the way i mix, i always mix into a master buss compressor...
typically set very lightly, for about 1:5 to 1 ratio, and no more than 2db of reduction.
medium fast attack, slightly slower release.
it's more like 'glue'.
i have individual compressors and limiters on most of the sub busses, but they are always set very light.
i like to use limiters a lot, but mostly as 'upwards compressors', i bring up level, but almost never hit the meter with any reduction.

i bounce down all tracks to a stereo file (WYSIWYG), AND THEN output that file as a 24 bit raw stereo wav file, and then i bring that file into wavelab.
using typical plugins (i like waves, i use a linear phase eq, or a waves Q8 eq, a linear phase multiband comp, and the L2 limiter, which also does the dither.) i coax a bit more volume out of it, and do any eq balances with a combo of eq and MBC, just shaving a bit here and there.
so, no trickery per se, just basic mixes, and then basic mastering with a minimum of f'kin' with it.

Really in the groove, amazing work :)

thanks robbyk.....
this one, was done without any rhythm track, just me finding my own groove,
it's very freeing, not to be tied to any time element, just to go with the flow

Wow!  I was instantly taken back to my college days as soon as it started playing!  Great mix, and I liked the separation on the acoustic guitars.  Very intelligible vocals.  Maybe a tad of Crosby, Stills, & Nash in there?  :-)
