hey joker! thanks for commenting, i'd be happy to answer any questions.....
mix/master:
normally i send my albums out to be mastered, but this one i did myself.
i always work the same way on all releases:
mix in sonar, and the way i mix, i always mix into a master buss compressor...
typically set very lightly, for about 1:5 to 1 ratio, and no more than 2db of reduction.
medium fast attack, slightly slower release.
it's more like 'glue'.
i have individual compressors and limiters on most of the sub busses, but they are always set very light.
i like to use limiters a lot, but mostly as 'upwards compressors', i bring up level, but almost never hit the meter with any reduction.
i bounce down all tracks to a stereo file (WYSIWYG), AND THEN output that file as a 24 bit raw stereo wav file, and then i bring that file into wavelab.
using typical plugins (i like waves, i use a linear phase eq, or a waves Q8 eq, a linear phase multiband comp, and the L2 limiter, which also does the dither.) i coax a bit more volume out of it, and do any eq balances with a combo of eq and MBC, just shaving a bit here and there.
so, no trickery per se, just basic mixes, and then basic mastering with a minimum of f'kin' with it.
