solo piano cd coming out, with this original.

At least, I think it's original?

Have you heard this theme before somewhere? Like in the first minute and a half . . . I'd sure appreciate some musicology up in here!

would love comments on mix, balance, reverb, and anything else as well . . .  would help tremendously as I am hatching this cd soon! If I have reinvented someone else's song, I'd drop this one off the CD . . .

cheers, and thanks,
-Tom

The opening first two phrases come from Rocky Horror Picture Show, which in turn come from something I can't remember from the 60's. There are a few other melodic phrases that come from other sources, but as a whole, I think you are okay.

It's certainly pretty!

Dan, you da man, I found "super heroes" from the Rocky Horror Picture Show, I've unconsciously copped the the first four notes of melody! thanks, that's what I get for those late nights in my misspent youth . . .

now I just have to change it a little, or drop it off the CD. Hmmmmm.

thanks,
-Tom

Hey Tom, lovely piece, and beautifully played.  I thought I might have heard some melodic hints of Sinatra's "My Way" towards the beginning, but overall I think you're okay.

Beautiful playing.  Not sure 4 notes makes a difference, but it might to you.  There's nothing new under the sun.  As jazzers we're used to playing variations, no?  You could retroactively claim it *based on a theme from...*  You know as jazzers that we're almost expected to included paraphrases and quotes of famous passages of well known players (coltrane, ellington etc)  not sure rocky horror qualifies! :D:D:D:D

Tom,

Very nice piece of music.   Reminds me a bit of John Barry's style ...with a little Billy Joel added in for good measure....  If you're not too pressed for time with your deadline, a little orchestration toward the middle around 1:50 would be interesting.

Great listen.

A really nice piece! I thought it created the feeling you wanted. I'm sorry I can't help with the musicology.
