It's not that it hasn't been hot and humid - I'm sitting here and it's in the 90's. But ever since I replaced my crappy old blinds with these swish new cellular ones, I've barely had to use the AC. The blinds have a honeycomb design which traps heat. They're light filtering, which means they still let some light in. But when I have them closed with the windows open behind, they really keep the heat at bay. It's weird how well they work. I'm not saying it's "cool" in here on a 90 degree day, but it's at a level below which I don't feel the need to flip on the air conditioning. I must be saving 100's of $$$'s this year.

I'd like more AC around here...  It's all DC lately.
(Or is it?)

Hasn't been too bad here ... but at the lake it's better and I have a fan over my head too, which makes evenings even more comfortable!

Same here......(in FL) can't even open the windows as all the creepy crawlies/mosquitos/flying thingies all rush in.

It's actually been reasonably comfortable in my sweatbox of an apartment this summer. I am thankful for that. Last year was VICIOUS to the point I'm pretty sure I had heatstroke a few times.

It's still been warm/humid but I haven't seen my thermostat readout go above 85F (still gotta figure out how to switch it to Celsius). It was regularly up around 90F last year before humidex.

Also they closed down the men's shelter on the block so I can have my windows open without having to listen to idiotic hobo brawls in the middle of the night.

It took a few years but this building has become a reasonably decent place to live.
