Do you make ugly faces when you sing or do the Joe Crocker "doo doo" fingers. Lol. If so doesn't help performance. Just asking. If it works I might try. Hahahaha

No Joe Cocker fingers (because of the bass in my hands).  Just the face.

I don't look so hot trying to hit high notes out of my range.   I have, however worked with artists that needs some performance help with lack of expression while signing.

I try to remember to smile while singing.

I think it helps make it look like it sounds better.

best,

It does make a difference. I used to think it was an affectation, but I've found, even in my limited singing experience, that these sorts of contortions and movements do actually help. I guess some of it is just helping to get your chest/throat into the right configuration, I dunno. The moving hands or arms definitely help me to keep the flow and meter while singing, sort of conducting yourself as you sing.

There were times when I was producing a vocalist who could not let go of thinking too hard about the melody.  She was all over the place because she was thinking too hard.  So I asked her to move her arms around at random to take her mind off singing and it worked.  She already had the song and feeling in her heart but until she was distracted, she couldn't deliver it well.

Thanks for reminding me of that!

Depends on what type of music whether you get the finger or the face contortions or if doing any of that type of music in the first place. Otherwise it is all conductor type symphony type performances.

when i'm pushing my range and belting, I find I sing on one leg.  not sure why, but it seems to help.

I had to remove the mirror from my vocal booth for acoustical reasons, so I don't know.

Bit, you are too funny!  I thought you were moving to the island?  Is that soon to be?
