I use the quad capture as my interface, monitor speakers plugged into the back, and SONAR x3Producer. If I am recording a vocal track, I have to un plug my speakers so there isn't any bleed into the mic, then plug back in to listen to the recording which is all a pain. Do I need a small mixer to separate the speakers from the headphone output? The mix knob on the QC doesn't do it or is there something I'm doing wrong?

Well I snooped around and found a thread with the same issue. Looks like it was not designed to switch from speakers to headphones. Bummer

Same here, for me, I shut off my speakers. In my previous setup, I send the Quad's out to a mixer and it's easier to manage.

Wouldn't it be more simple to just lower the monitor volume than unplugging or shutting them off?

Kind regards,

The Quad's volume controls both headphones out and line out at the same time. Line out connects to the active monitor directly.

Now that's a bad design?

Yeah, that is a bummer.

I use the behringer minimon monitor matrix to switch back and forth. It's small and cheap but does the job.

I bought the Yamaha DTX 400 as it was the best buy of the starter kits @ $500.
The sound in the brain are actually very good, They are almost identical the the Birch kit found in Session drummer. I also find the sounds respond better to how hard you play than triggering samples, but I still use Session drummer for my drums.
