Walt Collins
I look forward to hearing more from you.  Beautiful, with some minor imperfections, but it sounds "real", which makes it all worth it.

Hi again, Beagle ... Thank you so much for going to all that trouble! And I think you hit it on the head: I probably did have the mic turned funny ... the cradle kept falling apart, so in frustration, I cleverly  taped the mic to the stand so thoroughly that I can no longer even see much of it, so it's possible it was facing any which way!

Also, I'm ashamed to admit that I neglected to give you one letter in the mic's name: it's an MXL V67i , which has a dual diaphragm and has a Warm/Bright switch. So it's not dual-sided, as I inaccurately said. I think of it as dual-sided because of the switching feature. I guess it must have been set to "Warm" because I'm certainly not very "Bright" lately!

Anyway, now I'll be much more careful about singing directly into the front (if I ever figure out where the logo is under all that tape).

Thanks a million, Beagle!

To Jesse Screed - It's truly an honour to hear that you bookmarked my SC song list. I'm very very grateful and hope not to abuse your ears too often! Thank you so much for your kindness. :)

To fjz and Walt Collins - Thank you both very much for your kind words. It means a lot when people take their valuable time and choose the words that give other people a lift. :)

I'm hoping to get enough time tomorrow at long last to start listening to what everybody here's been up to the last couple of weeks. I've been really missing hearing all of your music.  I can't wait.... now if my work (job-for-money) will only cooperate!

Thanks again,
LJ

Ah - OK!  I didn't even know those "i" versions existed!  but yeah, singing off axis is OK and is actually good sometimes, but not TOO far off axis or you'll get weird sounds.

good luck!

so you played this and sang the same time? wow
your straightest song yet but that's prob just the orchestration
beautiful anyhow. you don't sing like most people- it's a quiet jazzlike quality.

I think this song is well suited to a simple guitar/vocal arrangement so I wouldn't go too overboard with a "full production" version.  Maybe you could start it off very much like it is, then bring in other instruments half way through.  Whatever you decide...very nice song.

Your artistry is amazing! I listened to all of your songs on SC... “Garyline” remix is my favorite…
2nd “You Better Move In”…

Very nice song.

Yeah there's some nits with the vocal quality, but time will work that out.

The guitar sounds pretty nice.

I know there's a certain feel that's obtained from a spontaneous live recording, but you might want to investigate using multitrack with 2 sessions to record this again.... one for the guitar by itself... then go back and record the vocals in a different take.

A nice crisp vocal take would put this over the top. To my ears, the vocal should have been a bit more prominent in the mix than it was.

I enjoyed it ....always pleasant to hear your voice and all your twists and turns in your song journeys ;o) ....thx for sharing.   I agree with most points noted....though for my taste its fine as it is...though I certainly agree with the idea of laying down the guitar track and the vocals separate for better post fiddling ability.
....Oh....I also feel sorry for the fool that would want to sneak away from such a pleasant gal ;o)
