This is sort of a downtempo, chillout prog rock tune.  I am still toying with some of the vocal passages, so if you have areas that should be re-recorded, I am all ears.  It is still not mastered, so the mix still needs the rough edges rounded out a bit -- but I think it is in good enough shape to share at this point.

Hope you enjoy it!

The style of the song reminded me of Peter Gabriel.
I liked it. Nicely done. The little details are nice... I mean the effects and sounds.

It has a wholeness to it, a real sense of completeness of the parts. Nothing is really out of place, with a lot going on!

I immediately thought PG as well . . .

mix thoughts? It's pretty good as it is. I might try a version with less delay on the vocal, and one with the snare turned up a tad. The French horn? toward the end could be another timbre, it's the only thing I could pick out as "not real" - maybe it's too washed with reverb to retain any attack of the notes. I know horns are pretty impossible to make sound real unless they are . . . real. But it's not much of a drawback as is.

I wasn't sure about the ending scrunchies . . . does this lead into another piece?

very well done!

Thanks for the feedback.  Tom, I'll do what I can to address the horns, reverb and other stuff you mentioned.

Yes, the 'scrunchies' on the end are intended as a lead into the next song.

Thanks again for listening.

What Tom said...

In addition, I think there are a few places that could use more cinematic feel in the drums, like "big" toms. Everything feels very polite, maybe too polite.

Overall, this is very well done and something to be proud of.

Dan

Thanks Dan and Wookiee.  I am still revising it so I'll try to do some changes in the toms.  Dan, if there are any specific passages that should be 'impolite' let me know.  Appreciate the feedback in any case.

Think of it the way an orchestral piece would ebb and flow...there are places where the track is just begging for more energy. Right now, the whole thing is pretty even keel, which is okay, but adding that extra something would make it special. Just listen...you'll hear it.

This is one of the best songs that I've heard in this forum for quite a while.  It's ethereal and rhythmic at the same time.  I've been listening to this several times a day for the last week, and it never gets old.  Extreme kudos to you.
