Thanks and back atch'ya.
I also find it cool and classy that the OP and the only other person in this thread are Quebecers honoring Canada and as a (mostly) anglo from ON Imma gonna wish everyone a happy St Jean Baptiste day to all our frenchie friends as well.
And for anyone who gets the opportunity in their lifetimes I highly recommend experiencing St Jean Baptiste day within the walls of old Quebec City. That is if you're into some loco street partying. Just be careful not to get too drunk and fall off one of the walls and/or stand at the top of one of said walls and not pay attention to revellers below shooting fireworks upwards.
Almost got drilled by fireworks when I was there. lol
Thanks Beepster!
You know, the more time I spend abroad, the closer I feel to my Canadian roots. It puts things in perpective. I'll probably feel quite alienated amongst my nationalist friends if I ever go back to Quebec, but who cares? I
am Canadian.
FWIW - I'd never celebrated Canada Day before I moved here. But then I was invited to this private party... Man - the biggest party I've been to in my life (and I've seen a few parties in my years).
The culminating point was the fireworks sync'ed to 2112 (Rush) - off the charts, even compared to big 4th of July celebrations. I still get goosebumps just thinking about it!
Plus, everyone was just so darn nice. :P
