Hi Everyone:
I have Sonar Artist, The Basic Version.  I have using it since February.  I want to create a stereo effect on a mono song.  I take a mono song and delay it through another music software program.  I then import the song from my desktop into Cakewalk.  I want to both equalize and pan center in the right channel.  I have switched from Track to Console view and although there are several dials to play with, the dials are not really doing the job.  I also imported the song (file)  into 16 bit and still nothing.  I did come across an A and A B switch.  I cannot locate them again.  Any suggestions and thank you in advance.  ED

Not understanding the parts I emboldened, can you explain what you mean?

Hi Jyemz:
I want to edit the left and the right channels separately in the wave file that I have imported into Cakewalk.  Examples, panning the bottom channel right to the center and EQing both left and right channels separately.  Ed

Not entirely sure what you're trying to achieve, but you could import the mono WAV file twice onto separate tracks, then apply EQ, panning or effects to them independently.

Thanks for your reply.  I mentioned in the original post that I did that.  I imported the same file twice.  I had used a delay in another program.  I wanted to use Cakewalk to EQ both sides and to pan center from the right channel to produce a stereo effect.  Both The EQ and Panning Dials don't do much.  I was wondering if there was a way to work on each channel seperatley?  Ed

FWIW The Beatles approved the mono mixes of their songs and then hated the stereo mixes the engineers cooked up when they (The Beatles) went home.

That should be a lesson for you.

I agree with Bapu. It is one thing to turn a single or a few mono sources into a stereo within a whole multitrack mix but to turn a complete mono mix into stereo is asking for trouble.  No matter what you use it will always sound bad when collapsed into mono.  And it won't sound that great in stereo either.

Not that it matters much to our mods but this thread should be moved to Techniques.
