Had the radio on while I've been out in the garden this afternoon, live coverage of Glastonbury. Thought I'd get to hear what the kidz are into these days.

What did I hear?

Chic, The Jacksons and Barry Gibb

Probably because the kidz ain't up that early on a Sunday.

Sounds about right.

I have a friend that goes every year and the secret is, apparently, to avoid the main stages, the intresting stuff is at the smaller stages. Of course this is less likley to be on the TV or radio.  I like to get to see a lot of live music but these days i can't be having a huge festival.

I started to watch the Foo Fighters on TV last night and lasted a bit longer than I did with Radiohead the night before but it didn't keep me up!. I may play around on iPlayer next week as there is likley to be some of the less mainstream stuff.

I think Radiohead peaked with Amnesiac back in 2001. I really loved songs like Pyramid Song and Knives Out. Very harmonically interesting and colorful stuff. Since then I haven't really been able to get into their stuff as much. Although I still think they're a good band.

I watched all of FF even though I'm not what you'd call a fan - I would probably struggle to name one of their songs tbh, but I just like Dave Grohl the man from what I've seen of him, so I watched for that reason as much as anything. The drummer also reminded me of animal in the muppet show, so there was that too......and beating Adele's record of course!

I would say that those who are fans certainly got value for money - I thought they were going to play all night !

Ed Sheeran was better than I expected too.

Before the Radiohead set, the presenters were banging on about the legendary Glastonbury appearance 20 years ago in 1997.

I was there: it was a band, playing some nice tunes, in a field.

I would push that peak indicator to Hail To The Thief.  That is my favorite album of theirs, after Ok Computer.  There are a few moments where they seem to drag out overly simple arrangements and melodies, but aside from that it's a really great piece of work.

I haven't really enjoyed much of anything from them after that one.  And Thome doesn't sing in key really anymore, when playing live.  I just can't stand singers not being in key.  No one's guitar is out of tune, the bass player is in the pocket, the drummer doesn't get to stray and slop his way through the song...but the singer seems to think singing out of key is acceptable?

It happens too much to forgive.

He's just preparing himself for the jump to popular music.  If you sing in key, the auto-tune doesn't work properly.
