Some nice reverb washed ambient guitar music from Plaid featuring Benet Walsh.....I really ought to have a playlist of this sort of stuff for when I'm winding down before bed....

Mind you, the odd panning of the bass makes for a slightly strange experience on headphones.

Here's a lovely one for the folkies - Dick Gaughan singing The Banks Of Green Willow, which is as far as I know either an English or a Scottish folk song. I love his Scottish folk style of ornamentation in the vocal, it's quite beautiful, and the guitar is very nice as well. In fact I wonder how much of the modern black R&B style of singing has its roots in Scotland. It's already been established that gospel singing originated from Scotland, but when I hear the ornamentation traditional Scottish singers like Dick Gaughan I can't help but compare it to the kind of fancy vocal ornamentation you hear in modern R&B and soul music too.

Love Gaughan's voice, I remember being spellbound by his singing when I heard Five Hand Reel in the early '70's. Learned to play 'Haughs of Cromdale' but never got around to recording it. Might still do that one day. Always liked their version of Ae Fond Kiss by Robbie Burns (that's Bobby Eaglesham singing tho)

I enjoyed both of those very much.....there's just something about the Scottish/Irish folk songs that have a way of bringing out deep meanings and emotions of their songs. My father used to love singing old Irish songs and although I didn't appreciate them when I was younger, I've certainly had a change of heart.

I was 7 years old when this song came out and like most little boys in the UK at that time I had some very mysterious feelings whenever Kate Bush came on the TV. LOL! Just look at those eyes though....she was mesmerizing. I loved this song as a kid and still love it now. Such a charming little ditty, great chords and melody. The video was also way ahead of its time and makes me long for the days when music videos were actually related to the song instead of just being a meaningless mish mash of butt-shaking and crotch-grabbing.

Listening to their discography now...

This is the band where the term "Shoegaze" was coined for (because they all apparently just stared at their pedals when playing live).

Gerorge Harrison with a rather tasteful and restrained Gary Moore ......
