I'll never forget the first band I was in and the other guitarist thought he had come up with an original riff that was simply the barre chords  A, G and F (if I remember correctly, just three all one step apart).  First he played them going down, then he reversed them and played them going up.
 
I could swear it was a Procol Harum song (in fact I thought it was Conquistador), but now I can't find it...   Bah.

FOUND IT!!!  The A, G, F song that has been bugging me for an hour now.  It's ELO's Fire On High from 1975.  Four years before our guitarist thought he came up with the same riff.  *Whew!*  NOW I can go on with the rest of my day.

After finishing the whole ELO discography, i'm now going through the Dream Theater discography!  Might have to do Rush next, I hear lots of similarities on some songs.
