Things are looking really promising as of now.  I'm up and running with Cakewalk by Bandlab, using my VS-700 console in parallel with my Slate Raven MTi2 and everything else.  I finally figured out how to make the drivers work in Windows 10.  It was far easier than I expected.  I've disconnected the VS-700R rack unit, though.  As much as I miss the Fantom VS (read: a LOT), I really don't miss the fan noise.  It is still a very capable unit, but I'm using a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 which has most of the same connectivity (minus the Fantom).   Everything works and sounds great.

I'm very impressed and encouraged by Bandlab's care and dedication to Cakewalk thus far.  I see only good things ahead.

Hi Heather, I have a question for you since you are running the console without the rack.

Are you able to use the headphone and/or monitor outs on the console?  I'm assuming no since there is no direct connection to interface...?

No you can not as you say.

I hadn't actually tried it, since I've always used an external headphone amp.  But as Gary already answered, no, it doesn't work.  No surprise since, as you mentioned, there's no actual audio connection.  Of course that also means the AUX inputs don't work, which is also a bit of a shame.  But honestly, I'd found those inputs somewhat lacking compared to going direct into the rack, anyway.

Ah, I didn't even think of the aux input.  I use that for a talkback mic only.  But having the headphone controls right there with all the other controls is really nice.

If only we had some nice new drivers that were up to date and stable with lower latency and samples, that would be so sweet.

sweet dreams?

I have the 700c working flawlessly in the lastest builds using Win 7 x64. Similar results when used as a Mackie surface in Vegas, Live, and Reason. Granted, I have swapped out the 700R recently for the RME 802 because I needed more I/O.

Wait, is that a new driver?  That's on Cakewalk's site, not Rolands...?
