I was surprised by the amount of reverb they used, and also how much low end is in that verb! Lovely round sound.

How much AutoTune do you think was applied?

So this was electronically isolated from the the two track, or is this track "4" from the master?
Printed the reverb along with the vocal when it was recorded?
The accompanying page on YouTube says some "amplification" was added.
Is that the little bit of "grit" on the track, or was the pre, and or the tape "pushed" at the time of recording?
All in all, Grace was "all that" and then some.
Man was I in "love" with her when I was 15!

Ditto. She was a lovely powerhouse!
I got to hang with Jorma in Chicago one night backstage ('69? or early '70) and got "colorful". When they walked onstage I went too, until Grace put a hand on my shoulder and said "not tonight, honey"! LOL  My pals in the audience laughed for weeks about me "being so in the moment"! LOL
I was ready to play..... very!

Vocal h-bomb right there!

Great story, Michael! Much envy here.

Quick follow-up story...

I was in a bar in Milwaukee in the late 70s, shooting some pool and drinking Budweiser out of 7 ounce bottles (if you know Milwaukee, you'll understand that; if not, this isn't the proper forum to explain).

A couple of young punks came in and walked up to the jukebox (miss those days!). One guy remarks to the other: "Jefferson Airplane? I thought it was Jefferson Starship." The second guy replies: "It is. That was their name before they got their $hit together."

My best friend and I almost beat them to death with our pool cues.

HAHA!   I had a student who asked me "was Paul McCartney in a band before Wings?"
It's one of my favorite remembrances from that period, hanging with them for the preshow.
