Hey Buds - check out my brand new keyboard controller!

It's called the Nektar Panorama P6.
So far, it's integrated with Reason & Cubase, & a number of Vst instruments & FX with more promised to come.
Up until now, on my computer rig desktop, I was using a Novation ReMote 37SL for about 5 years now, but the keyboard was a bit to small - only 3 octaves, so I was constantly switching them up & down depending on the instrument.

Also, with many VST & sample instruments now, some have key switches down in the lower octaves, so this is a bit better for those.

I do still have my digital P-200 88 key master controller, but this is handy for when sitting right in front of the DAWs & just adding some tracks like strings, various VST instruments, Kontakt library stuff, etc.

Anyway, haven't even plugged it in yet, but just wanted to share this with ya's, as MIDI controllers seem to be an on going discussion & concern these days.

So now you know that this is out there as well.

BTW, that fader on the far left is motorized, with Mute & Solo buttons among others right next to it for the track in focus.

There's also a P4 = 49 key and a P1 = no keys.

How does the P6 work with SONAR, specifically the motorized fader, LCD display, and knobs?

Hey Seth - good to see you around. Hope you are well and that things are good.

I have to be brutally honest & say that I haven't ran it with Sonar, as I've only been using Q7.5.

I basically jumped ship last June-July, after waiting & waiting & waiting for the all-too-silent 'ghost of X2a past updates' to appear, which of course never did, as you know.

[Meanwhile there was a steal of a deal for Q, so I, along with a few others here took it!]

But they do have what it's integrated with on their site:

This newer, lighter version below has the Sonar logo along with many other DAWs on it's page, about middle page-left.

I know I read for sure on the Cubase forums directly from one of the Nektar guys that they were going to support all DAWs, as I was wondering that myself before creating a post here about the P6, but it looks like Sonar is on the trailing edge of the P4/P6 curve, at least for now.

They have just given a Q7.5 update to sync hidden tracks & channels with the mixer, and I found really fast replies the few times I've contacted them, so you could ask if & when they'll do Sonar with the P4/P6.

HTH Seth, good to see ya!

Thanks for the reply. Heard back from a Nektar rep who said it only works in generic mode with SONAR so no motorized fader or LCD. If only Reason supported VSTs ...

I've been looking at those for a while - the reason integration is superb.  How does the moto fader respond to big jumps?  i picked up q7 with a cmc-fd and really like the idea of instantaneous display of different levels.  Remapping them to sonar is a bit tricky through midiox or pure data, but it can be done.

@ seth - Gee, that's too bad Seth. Did he give you any ETA on when they'd have the Sonar integration done?

@ swaptooth - ...How does the motor fader respond to big jumps?...

Really fast - basically instantaneous.

Awesome!

The rep said it was on their list but not at the top of it and wouldn't commit to a timeframe or even guarantee that it would ever happen. He did say they had full SONAR support with their lower ejd LX controllers and that they would adapt the LX control surface plugin to work with the P series. Hope it happens sooner rather than later. :)

Yeah - you can say that again!
I'm a bit surprised, quite frankly, as this kind of goes against every impression the company has given so far to date.

At least they got back to you about it and fairly quickly.

What kind of impression did they give?
