Basically what the Title reads. I am interested in purchasing an Electronic Drum kit to use for my Percussion Tracks But, I have found that the included samples are not a realistic as the samples used in Plug-ins IE:Kontakt-Abby-Road Modern Drummer. Is it possible to MIDI and set as a controller? Which kit is most compatible? I'm a Novice so please DUMB it down for me. :D

Absolutely.
I got my kit specifically to trigger software drums. A huge library of built-in sounds was not an issue, as I didn't intend to use them anyway.
I do pretty much the same as Johnny, monitoring the line out of the edrums, along with the output of the other tracks from Sonar.
The setup pictured below was relatively inexpensive to put together, and offers a wide range of control.
