This is totally cool!  Very nice mood and ambience, space to breath, all that, and tasty.  And what a great hook..."a shotgun, a shovel and an alibi", I like how you write lyrics.  I've listened to some of your other stuff, you're quite creative and interesting.   

shot gun, shovel, and alibi....very cool.  the drums have that pink floyd money sound.  i really like the concept of the tune.  very interesting guitar solo, not yer usual animal.

Slinky and well played and mixed.  I liked it from the first word.  You are right in my wheelhouse here.  is that a synth or an upright bass?  Sounds really cool!  I love the vocal, man it fits your music so well, or vice versa.

very cool vibe, music's perfect, i love the lyric, but i don't know if the vocal 'timbre' is quite right...
i think it needs to be sung by someone with a deeper voice,
versus the 'leon russell' vibe that it has now.....
i'm not saying it doesn't work,
but just wearing the producer hat, i'd say it'd be stronger with a deeper growly voice...
or...
 
consider a sultry woman's voice, which would put a super twist on it...

I certainly get where you're coming from Batsbrew, ol pal.  And a Kathleen Turner "esque" voice would bring a whole new dimension to it.  But down here where I'm from all the really scary crazyass sociopaths all have one tooth and high lonesome nasal voices (think..."you got a pretty mouth" from Deliverence).  Plus that's what I sound like too:-)
