Thanks Cactus.

This DA7 has 2 ADAT cards installed. I think I may be able to use the DA7 for mic input, and as you say, headphone mixing, though I will have to learn how to do that with the DA7. But hey, I really have nothing else for it, so, there ya go. :)

I also wonder how I might use patch bays, and if they could be useful.

The experienced input here is really helpful. Please continue. :)

Thanks.
Clay

Yea, patch bays are old, but it's funny I still see studios (in pictures), with DAWs, using patch bays for whatever reasons.

The DA-7 is a good digital board - I imagine the converters would still sound nice.  And preamps.  And the controls (tho I've never tried it w/ SONAR or PT or anything).

How are you getting sound into your computer/SONAR now - what interface?  I would think it would be better than many low-cost solutions today.  That is what I'd be most interested in - that and routing/subs and all the other solutions a board offers.

Clay. I have a DA7 also. Had it for like 10-12 years. I quite like the board.
I think the convertors sound great. But, then, I don't really have a comparison to judge by.

That said, I do just use it as pretty much a patch bay come to think of it.
I used to run stems thru it for mixdown via adat but haven't done that much anymore mostly because of the hassle of recalling mixes.

I recently got 16 faders to control 16 in Sonar which was pretty cool but haven't revisited that.
The wow factor has worn off I guess:)

I'm really not clear on what you are asking though??

I am basically looking for thoughts and ideas on how to make use of the DA7, if at all.

Right now my studio is out of commission due to a long remodel project on the house. It was only a project studio for me and my keyboard stuff, sound modules, effects, etc. See the attachment below. I used the MOTU hardware to get the source signals into the computer.

Now I hope to put together an actual "recording studio" to some degree, where I can actually record performers.

Thanks very much for the info. It's good to hear from people that have experience with the DA7 and how it has been used.

I still use my DA7 with X2. I love the converters plus I need all the ins. I use it for all my analog gear. Vocal & Drum mics, guitar & bass and to run my mixes out to Masterlink. I have several buddies who use them some in tandem.

BTW.... Clay that mock layout is sweet! What program did you use to do that?

Hi. I used Home Designer Architect from Chief Architect. I'm doing a home remodel so I bought it for that. That isn't a polished mock up, but gives an idea of the look.

Thanks.

So did you ever decide to use the DA7? My screen went out on my so I may try and find a new board and use them in tandem.
