A train song. Already plan to compress the backing vocals more to balance high and low better.

You've got a good song here. Poor Molly...

In any case, I think your SFX are overwhelming your song in a few spots. I'd say pan them to one side or the other and echo on the opposite to move them back and separate them from the song itself.

Thanks, Dan. I shouldn't have listened to The Wall so much in high school, lol. I'll definitely dial those down.

We are all guilty of too much Wall, my guess. I liked the song and your vocal performance was quite good.

Mix-wise, the main vocal is getting some kind of room-boxy treatment, but the guitar sounds like it's in a different room, it's a little too up front and clean? reverbless? You might get them in the same room reverb wise a little more.

That's my only idearr . . . sounds good otherwise.

I think your voice could carry a lot of different genres, good singing!

cheers,

Thanks Tom! That is my brother Kevin on vocals. We have been playing together in various bands since the early nineties here in Austin. Yuckmouth, a punk band, was one - scroll down on the soundcloud page if you're morbidly curious, lol.
I'll probably take the verb off the vocal first, trying to minimize eq and verb and comp these days and not defaulting to having them.

Sounds a little all down the middle to me, the vocal also sounds overly wet agree on the SFX comments above.  Thanks for sharing will keep the furry lugs out for the remix.

I really like this.  It has a toe tapping quality to it.  I like the horns around two minutes.  Man I've heard some great music on this forum today.

Mixwise, I will let the experts give their take, for me, I would strip all the effects off and print one straight, just because I think it would be cool.

I think it's got the right feel for the subject - good train song.   I liked the vocal harmonies and the overall acoustic arrangement.    Clear some of the FX for a more "guys playing in a room" thing and I think it'd be good to go.
