Plugged it in at about 1:30PM today. It's almost 6:00PM.

All the lava started bubbling to the top by about 2:30PM. Then I took a nap. After I woke up at 4:30PM all the lava was back at the bottom in one big ball kind of rotating.

Normal behavior?

Do I need to buy some plugins for it?

Which do you recommend?

Is it a used lava lamp?

The goo goes "dead" after a while and just kind of blobs out at the bottom. Something about the chemical composition of the goo. It simply stops dancing and burbling after extended use.

I had one as a teen and eventually it just stopped doin' its thang.

I'm guessing that might happen even if it's "new" but has been sitting around for a long time (like vintage dealy).

Meh.

I just imagine bubbles in my mind as I record if I need ambiance.

Oh... and they are generally most active in the first couple hours after being turned on. After that they kinda do the blob thing so if you walked away for that time period you may have miseed the show.

I had a friend who had the same problem with his lava lamp. Jokingly I told him to pick up the hot lamp and shake it as hard as he could for 30 seconds to "stabilize" the wax. He took my "advice". It was about 30 days before the lamp returned to normal...........He almost forgave me..........

How long did it take for the burns on his hands to heal?

lol...

Those buggers can be dangerous.

They occasionally explode too.

I wouldn't leave one of those bastards on unsupervised near my gear.

Did you check its sleep/hibernate settings?

It's probably stuck on the "bass player" setting.  Try lead guitar for a better show.

HTH

(I TOLD you the first time you use it it can take 5-6 hours to start working!)

8 HRS now. Still a big ball at the bottom.

I'll turn it off when I go to bed and try in the morning.
