That poor ovation acoustic/electric the way you make it cry and sing you are a wicked wicked man Rik.

Nice playing by the way.

Rik,

I like your take on this song.   Not an easy one to pull off and can't believe you are playing this on an acoustic:)

I imagine your self effacing comments are tongue in cheek.  Very nice guitar playing.  I must agree that you coaxed a nice electric sound from that acoustic.  How did you do that?

The song has a nice feel, a reflective song.  I especially like it around 4:03. I want some more.

As a long time Vai fan I can very much appreciate taking on this classic.   Nice job switching up some of the phrasing and articulations in subtle ways to better accommodate using an acoustic.

Hi Jesse, thanks for listening,  yep, tongue is placed firmly in cheek ; ) Before I got sick I was a half decent guitar player, now I'm more or less half a guitar player ; )

about the guitar tone, take one Ovation acoustic electric, thomastik infeld steel and silk strings with a g string just about hanging on for dear life, plug it into a boss micro br 80 recorder, select program "fuzz echo" and of you go.
In Sonar compress the living daylight out of it and boost 2khz to the max for a very natural sounding acoustic guitar
; )
