Loved your sparse arrangement.  The young uns do too little with too much  (the opposite of the old way, alot with very little).  Without sounding like an old curmudgeon, I might suggest mixing up the drum track a little.  It makes quite a difference when you include different fills and phrases etc.  Otherwise your guitar tone was spot on.

Thanx for the reply Eph...I agree about the drums, a work in progress...I try and keep it simple and fun... just a hobby for me...Sonar has so much to work with...

I like this original reworking of a classic, the guitar has a good feel to it. What did you use to get the tone?

I'm not familiar with the original but I love songs like this. I'm guessing you have all the parts as they are (were)  and I'd say it's pretty good as it is.

I did get the feeling that some of the guitar sounded distant, which might have been part of the original sound? It kinda sounds like your neighbor is playing it with an amp in his backyard and you have slung a microphone over the fence to capture it. It's a nice lonesome sound but I'd want to bring those guitars up closer to the listener, just a preference I guess.

The guitar playing itself was really good, nice job there!

cheers and have fun,
-Tom

Thanx Tom , I like your concept of throwing a mike over the fence for the far away sound...I might try that someday...I seem to get to a point when making a song that it's good enough (for the girls I go out with anyway), and move on... However after some reviews here I can go back to the project and spruce it up a bit... thanx again for your input...Pat

I surely remember this tune.  As a matter of fact, the Shadows of Knight (Gloria) were managed by our manager and they had to add the "of Knight" because these guys already had Shadows.  It brings back memories.  Seems to drag a bit BUT I am thinking that's what you are going for.  I like the sound and am glad you are having fun with Sonar.  Keep on producing music and posting it.

evadianepug, this is the original version here.     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzgbcyfJgfQ my version is a lot slower...I like to play the older 60's style surf instrumentals...fun to jam with...thanx for the comment.. I like the Porch swing song, can relate as time ticks away...

I like the slower tempo.  Overall your mix has a great atmosphere.  I'd like to hear the lead guitar a bit more prominent though - especially at the beginning where it's somewhat drowned out by the clanging chords.
