There is a wishy-washy mentality prevalent among a lot of "educated" middle class types in the UK - I know because I have a lot of them on my Facebook feed. To them, nothing will ever unshake their deeply held views of cultural relativity and the idea that every way of life is equally as valid as theirs. And they're so PC that not one of them shared a single comment of outrage or anger over last night's attack. Nor did they say a single word against the attack on pop-loving teenyboppers in Manchester last week. Most of them have kids of that age as well! The only reaction they EVER have to this kind of stuff is to share touchy-feely posts preaching peace and tolerance from people like George Takai. I mean I will take straight to Facebook and call these terrorists barbarians and savages and suggest that they should be thrown on a giant bonfire, but not one of them replies. Can't say anything because that would make them "intolerant".....of the ideology which has a clear plan laid out to kill them and their families and destroy their way of life. It makes me so effing mad I just want to unfriend them all sometimes.
As for the police response time, well yes 8 minutes to kill the animals was quite good, but I hear a lot of people saying that the answer is to therefore recruit more police. Just how many innocents did the truck driving jihadist in Nice flatten before the cops managed to shoot him dead? Was it 70 or 80? I can't remember. So the government disarms us, point blank refuses to do anything about the thousands of known terrorists and extremists they have on watch lists, and then says well don't panic, our police are marvelous and they will protect you. It'll only take 8 minutes mind, so all bets are off until then. MADNESS.....
