But do you have that No Remorse double CD set I'm talking about? It's pretty solid.

I do have an early version of No Remorse on CD Beep - a 1988 release and one of the first CDs I ever bought!

Here's a quick scan of the disc and the insert showing the track-listing:

I don't have the recently released 'Deluxe' 2CD version though, is that the album you're talking about?

Ya, the one from 2005 (I think).

I guessed as much mate, my No Remorse is quite dreadful production-wise

I'm very interested in hearing second opinions to Moshkitos comments on the sound quality of the British vs. US version of Sgt.Pepper. Are there others here who have had the opportunity to compare them?

Here's the Wiki that breaks down the track list(s) and releases...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Remorse_(Mot%C3%B6rhead_album)

So I've got the Sanctuary release which has the extra tracks (including the Wendy O stuff).

I mean you may not like it if you are really into vinyl but to me it really brings out the power of the tunes. Good clarity as well compared to other releases. You can actually hear what Lemmy is doing which, due to his hi gain distortion sound, usually gets buried in the guits. The kick drums are POUNDING on it too so great in the car or on a nice hi fi.

Thanks, Steve. I'd totally spaced out the fact that SONAR can rip a CD. Come to think of it, I've done it in the past with Adobe Audition, too.

I guess the convenience of Windows Media Player won out, since it can rip the disk and sync up my portable player in one go. So I've just had it planted in the back of my brain that ripped files are lower quality than what's on the CD, when in fact it should be possible to pull them into SONAR and save them as FLAC files with negligible loss of quality.

You are on to something here Beep. My (remastered) Motörhead CD collection only contains 2 recent 'Deluxe' versions - No Sleep.. and Bomber. The others are much older 'first generation' versions - probably poor vinyl-digital copies rather than genuine remasters.

As I say, the Hammersmith CD is excellent. I'll revisit Bomber now I'm aware of the differences and report back.

I take your point about clarity though mate. Although the older CDs definitely seem to have more clarity than the vinyl, they also seem to have this at the expense of any low end. True, Lemmy played bass like a rhythm guitar and the Rick doesn't lend itself to a defined low-end, but on my vinyl LPs, you definitely get the 'feeling' of a bass guitar, albeit distorted and quite heavy on the treble.

Time for me to invest in some newer CD versions I reckon

@Steve...

I found this on Amazon...

https://www.amazon.com/No-Remorse-Deluxe-Motorhead/dp/B003ZDCMLO

I think that may be the 2015 release though (the dates are confusing... one section says 2010 which I don't think saw a release and another says 2015 which would make more sense... and if that "Deluxe Edition" graphic is actually on the CD box/jacket it ain't the one I have).

So, can't vouch for the sound quality on that but I'm thinking, simply based on current production trends, that they may have retained the power of the 2005 release but dealt with that older style "cold" crispiness in the high end. Didn't realize how many times it was put out. lol
