I'm having trouble finding where to buy a high-def version of the Giles Martin remix. Amazon will sell me a CD or an MP3 download, but I'm looking for legit FLAC files (not something somebody ripped off a CD and posted to a pirate site). I know it exists because all the reviews mention both FLAC and 96KHz releases.

Anybody know where to get it?

I believe there's a box set available that contains many CDs and DVDs full of stuff, not sure if FLACs are available separately

I haven't seen those available either but I would presume that they're delaying the release of them so that they can flog as many expensive CD-box-sets-with-all-the-trimmings as possible first.

i can't find a CD of it anywhere.

Amazon has the CD, at the reasonable price of $13.99 (as opposed to the big box set at $127.49). It's also offered as an MP3 for $14.49.

Normally, I'd just buy the CD and rip it myself. It's 50 cents cheaper and I'd have a permanent backup. But this is one of the few times I'd prefer to spring for original FLACs rather than listen to WMA files ripped from a CD, which are only marginally higher-fidelity than 256 kb/s (or worse) MP3s.

Are you saying, Dave, that your 60+ year old ears can actually hear the difference?

This should generate a good bit of extra income for Ringo eh?  The last of the initial Beatles (unless you consider Pete Best to be the original drummer in which case they're all gone, ya?).

Actually, I can. But admittedly, only if I know the material well. That criterion, I think, is met in this case.

OTOH, I'm afraid a high-def remix of Kanye West's greatest hits would be lost on me.

i don't think that's the new re-mix,
only a 'deluxe' edition.

the 50th anniv remix says just that on it...

it's confusing.

if the band wasn't involved in the original stereo mix,
and it was a rushed job,
i can imagine the new re-mix would be awesome compared to the somewhat dim stereo original,
the mono version sounds so much better.
