Hi, this is a rock instrumental I wrote a few years back. As usual I can't seem to leave them alone and I continually remix them hoping to improve.  I was trying to add a bit of meat in this mix this time. I would appreciate your feedback. Yes, I am guilty of using common chord progressions.

Decent mix and I like the way the key thing comes in. I think a more defined melody earlier would keep the listener's attention for longer.
On a technical note, is it my ears or is the arpeggio guitar slightly out of tune?

Reminds me of Ten Years After "I'd Love To Change The World" - pretty cool.

Daryl is right though, that guitar needs to be tuned up a few strings are flat. But that's an easy fix ;)

Thanks guys for listening and letting me know about the tuning issues. I have now treated all the guitars with Melodyne and hopefully this is an improvement.

I didn't hear the original, but the guitar sounds fairly well tuned from here.   The mix sounds decent, nothing particularly out of place, though I'd like to hear just a bit more definition on the bass.    Then all it needs is some vocals.

Sounds a lot like House of the Rising Sun.

Pretty cool instrumental tune - I enjoyed it.

I really enjoyed listening to your song. The music I listened to when I was really young was my dad's music which was mostly rock songs from the 60's and 70's. I know more about that music than I do about what most of my friends listen to. My all time favourite was House of The Rising Sun. Your song has that same feel to it at times (in a good way). My dad listened to Ten Years After a lot and in places it reminds me a bit of that group too. It sounded great to me.

Hi, taking on board some of your comments I noticed after applying Melodyne to the guitars I over did it on the lead guitar parts at the end and the bends went way out of tune so I fixed that. I increased the volume on the bass and added compression with a faster attack and release. Hopefully the bass is more defined now. I cloned the guitar parts to give it more weight, as I felt it was losing strength at different parts of the song. The guitars are louder and cutting through stronger. I did write some vocals but they just don't fit, so they are there for another project. It has given me an idea of doing a concept EP all based around these chord progressions using this track and the vocal I have just written leading into a cover of the House of the Rising Sun.
Finally, thank you of the comments about it sounding a bit like House of the Rising Sun. That is a huge compliment to me. It is inspired by that song and based on the same key and chord progression but without the E chord.
Thank you all for your comments and taking to time to listen.

second version is much much improved, nice job!

I dig the throwback to the '70's . . . "House of the Rising Stairway" would be a good title!

Do you know a band called "God is an Astronaut"  ?  If not you might check them out, really cool stuff like what you have made here.

cheers,
-Tom
