Not from Cakewalk... and not from Tascam... But for Sonar

Bidirectional Web based interface is in development. The idea is not replace already existing powerful Mackie apps (like TouchDAW) but add a "touchscreen" of any web capable device (Android, Apple, etc.) to display information for normal keyboards/DPs. To see strip/act parameter names, modifiers states, now time, marker or something else (in fact freely configurable). It is going to be interactive in terms of "buttons", for transport and other (freely configurable) actions.

The goal: attach a tablet or phone ($50 - $200) to any controller ($100-$300) to get Sonar dedicated "control surface with 4'' - 10'' touch sensitive hi resolution display".

While it is not a part of this project, in case someone manage to route the controller USB in/out throw the device (one obvious solution is Windows Tablet with rtpMIDI), that DIY solution is going to be "true wireless".

The Roland Edirol Cakewalk keyboards have been succesful. Since Cakewalk and Roland parted those keyboards are not made anymore. I was hoping for such a product!

TASCAM has never really made a keyboard, if I remember.  They have made some good controllers.  I'd still like to see a touchscreen and keyboard and controller all built-in together.

Never again am I buying hardware designed to work for or with a specific DAW. Not after the disaster of the VS-700 and certainly not from TASCAM after the mess I had with them and their DM-4800 and their rubbish support.

The VS-700 is a great success compatibility wise, why would anyone assume it wasn't successful?
Many people are using the VS-700 successfully, there is nothing in it that's even close to being considered a disaster, though.

Many of the major DAWs like Pro Tools, Nuendo, etc, have proprietary hardware controllers, so why should the great Sonar be lesser than the competition?

Look how many people despise ProTools because of how proprietary it is already. Especially in the last few months where ProTools' future has become very shaky, that makes people who have spent tens of thousands of dollars with them nervous.

Plus, Cakewalk is a software company. Who is going to make their surface? Tascam? You're better off drawing in with a mouse than dealing with the mess that would be.

Yah, see my previous post. I'll never buy another mixer from them either.
