Hi Guys,

I'm looking at replacing my Line 6 Toneport UX2 with something new. I've been getting random crashes in the OS and using Sonar for around a year and I'm just going to put it down to the hardware now. Everything else has been swapped.

Anyhow I'm looking for something very light in features. All I really need is stereo mic inputs but I'm wondering if any hardware might perform better in terms of latency and round trip also? My PC has been built to a pretty good level but Sonar always seems to freeze up and never respond or take ages to open plug ins, even with really big buffers.

Any advise and suggestions welcomed.

Thanks

I used my UX1 for ages and loved it and will probably resurrect another old Win7 pc to set it up again. I really like podfarm. Then I have a dedicated pc for electric guitar.

I have switched over though with my new pc to the focusrite 2i4, but I am just getting started on new recordings. It (focusrite) is well liked on these forums by many. The 2i2 and 2i4 are entry level and you can go up from there.

For a simple audio interface, it's hard to beat the Audient ID14 ($300).
Two nice sounding mic preamps, burr-brown converters, and low round-trip latency
