hello

i would run 2 asio soundcard with sonar

tascam dm-4800 firewire - 32 channel with asio drivers, 8 channel with wdm drivers
and
xone:4d - 10 channel

at this pont my problem is i can't use asio4all because the wdm drivers of the dm-4800 seem to limit to 8 channel

i have read about Centrance universal firewire asio drivers (free beta...) can do the job
but he is unavailable from Centrance website since many years, and impossible to find it on the web

maybe somebody have save the free betaand can share it please?

thank

what you want is ASIO4All - originally developed as a wrapper for WDM interfaces, it has matured nicely, and in advanced mode it lets you combine multiple ASIO and WDM sources as an aggregate interface. I don't use it a lot, but it hasn't caused me any problems - eventually I expect I'll just leave it in there as my equivalent to "Core Audio"<G>.

There is also a new kid in town, which I recently tried, and it worked quite well. It is called ASIOLink, and you can check it out HERE.

In some ways I find ASIOLink to be a little easier to use, but ASIO4All is a bit more mature... anyone got a coin?

thanks for the answer

with the last asio4all drivers they see only 8 channel of 32 on the tascam dm-3800 firewire

i think its because his wdm drivers allow only 8 channel
his asio drivers allow 32 channel obviously

i will have a look to ASIOLink

May I ask why you would need more than 32 channels in a small studio?
I think when the channel count gets that high one shouldn't be mucking around with freeware drivers and such. Sounds funky.

hello

i have these 32 channel of the tascam for homestuding, and the xone 4d for djing in the same room
twice plugged to my daw, the problem is can't power on twice at the same time, if  i do, i got a BOSD
so, i would be able to run it together, for alot of reason, for exemple mix a vinyl on a track i am creating, or other things

Well I guess I was wondering if you had a orchestra or something then I can see needing 32 channels. I guess a pile of outboard synths could do it too.
It seems you understand you cannot use 2 ASIO device at the same time so we either switch devices or buy a larger input/ output interface. 32 Channels seem about the maximum so I was wondering why you needed more.

I'm thinking this is because you need them both at the same time?

ah ok i understand, yes it is because i need them both at the same time, it's not really to add more channel

unfortunatly  asio4all and ASIOLink can't do the job, but it seem these old Centrance universal firewire asio drivers do it, but i can't find it anywhere
