Larry, this was really good. How/where did you get the midi tracks? Did you download the parts and then you orchestrated them or did you create the midi yourself?

I downloaded the MIDI tracks Rimshot and then used Miroslav 2
for the parts...and did the mixing...

I only WISH I could play like that...LOL

Nice work Larry. I don't think I've listened to any of your tunes before. This was very well done and didn't sound at all too "midi-fied" if you know what I mean. I don't think I'd know where to start with orchestrating something as big as this.

cheers

You did great! I am impressed with the way your instrument sounds end their part. Sometimes a swell and sometimes a fade. Very good attention to detail on all of it. I don't have that kind of patience these days. Just want to get stuff down in a few passes. But working wit all the orchestral instruments through timbre and mix shows a lot of understanding of the medium and a good ear for production and mixing.
Well done.

Thanx Rimshot....as I said earlier, it's given me a far greater appreciation
of what Orchestrators have to do...and all they have to go through...was
a great learning experience...

Again Larry thanks for the deals and steals!

I'd say the strings and winds are particularly well realized. I didn't hear any real fakeness. How's that for an oxymoron?

Perhaps the flute gets a little more prominent than it should in a spot or two: 2:45? Just something to check.

The piano for me is something which might be improved upon. The lower registers sound great but the upper register (featured) is pretty thin, too low in the mix, and needs more reverb to be in the same concert hall as the strings/flutes. If you have Kontakt I could recommend the Pearl. I think even Addictive Keys would be more in line with what you are trying to do.

These piano vsti's go on sale from time to time. If you need help with that, I know a guy.  :)

Seriously, you have done a good and faithful job here. Keep up the good work and thanks again for all you do around here.

Larry,

Very good work.   Sounds very real and can appreciate the work that went into it.

I agree with Tom's comment above regarding the thinness of the piano on the upper registers.    In this case, since the piano is the lead, it could use a bit for fullness on the upper end.   I would also second trying the XLN Steinway D for the upper part in this piece.   Just downloaded the XLN demo yesterday and was quite surprised by the quality as a lead instrument.   The demo works fully in 4 octaves, in case you don't already have it.

Your mix, expression, separation and space is realized very well too.   The piano is really the only thing I might consider updating...

Regards
