I'm currently working on getting my guitar recordings right. This is my first dedicated guitar track. It's a cover of an old danish folkmelody called "I skovens dybe stille ro" (In the deep quiet calm of the woods). Basically I always liked the melody. Having only a dynamic microphone, I rented a guitar with pick-up and combined the mic sound with the pick-up sound to get a usable acoustic sound. For electric I'm using Guitar Rig 5.

I always wonder if no replies means "all perfect" or "sucks so bad comments are redundant", but anyway I noticed that the mix I put up had some weird stray percussion sounds on it, so I made a new mix, where I also changed the electric guitar a bit.

I think it sounds great.  Only thing I would change (as a classical guitarist) is to get some dynamics into the melody.  It's a little too bland-sounding to me.  But maybe that's what you were after.  :D:D

Nice melody and well played. Seems to me that the guitar is playing the melodic line that's more fitting for a vocalist. A guitar playing just the individual notes needs some backing elements, like a strumming pattern with varying chords or a bass line or something.

I do like the idea of taking an old folk song and getting creative with it. I'd try expanding on the basic melody a bit and make a complete song out of it - intro, verses, chorus etc.

It's a pretty tune and your recording /mix sounds very nice. As a listener I'd like to hear that melody expanded on with some flourishes or improvisation, maybe even a harmony. It's a bit 'pedestrian' as it stands. The electric guitar sounds a little out of tune to me.

Agree with the prior comments -- solid recording and I like the elements as they currently stand.  The song ending is a little abrupt -- maybe a more gradual slope on the fade-out.   Add a little color to the guitar and you're set.

Thanks for your input. There is actually lyrics to it, but it's always been a big favorite with instrumentalists, too. I've decided to put my vocals on the shelf for now and do mostly instrumentals.

Thanks for listening. I can see what you mean. A little variation in the background.

Thanks. The funny thing is that the guitar sounds out of tune to me, too, but I used the tuner built into Guitar Rig 5. Maybe it's not so precise or maybe they screwed up my guitar ?

Thanks for listening. By "color to the guitar" you mean ?
