My mom died a month ago. It's all pretty strange.
Happy Mother's day Mom. Miss you.

Mother's Day in the UK is on a different date so I think I'm off the hook for now. Mind you, I forget what date it is in the UK too. Sometime in March probably. I was never any good at remembering any of this stuff. My mother got sick of me forgetting as a kid and one year, when I was about 14, she left a few quid on my bedside table before she went to work in the hope that for once, I would remember and buy her a mother's day present. I woke up and thought the tobacco fairy had been and went out and bought cigarettes.

We're the most unsentimental family. When we were kids, my mother gave my brother some money to buy her a Christmas present. So he bought her a bar of chocolate, and wrapped it with the change on top. There was this chocolate shaped gift with coin shapes on the top under the tree. Personally I don't understand things like cards. I honestly don't know how long you're supposed to keep them before you throw them in the trash, so I read them once and then trash them. People are horrified by this for some reason.

Cards are meant to be displayed for 15 to 30 days. Put in a drawer for 6 months to one year. Optionally thrown out after a year. If you keep it after that it's for sentimental reasons (which you may not know what that means)

You can't say "sentimental" without saying "mental"

No, no phone call as she passed away a few years ago.
I was out busking though, and played a song I wrote about her: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLTtlvsXQmU.

I haven't cried in over 30 years, but came pretty damned close as I was singing it.

Mother's day (which is really everyday for us) was a good one......called me mum and wished her. It really lifted up her spirits talking to my little ones (she's still missing my dad who passed away 2 yrs ago and they were married 53 years).
She's coming here in 2 weeks to spend summer (hopefully more) with us.....she'll be here for Daryl's (me otter brudder from anudder udder) & me B'day in June(same day)....Yay!!

My little ones made lots of cards and made French toast (from a homemade loaf of bread my 10 yr old made) for breakfast and served it to everyone.......very nicely done and yammy. It was a good day.

Oh yeah, the wife (their mom) liked it too.
