In the past 5 years that I've (happily
) lived here, I'm sure I've been bitten a few times and the sting wasn't bad at all (nothing like what that description says).
Actually, small ant bites and their aftereffects (itching/little bumps on the skin etc...) are much more painful than what these flies have done. I'm more worried for my little one's getting bitten......just don't want them to get the real (so called) 'serious bite'.
They're also fairly easy to kill though....my wife's deadly with the flip flops
. They're more of a nuisance than a threat, but we ain't taking no chances.
