I love this tune! I'm now one of your followers and I'm so happy I'll get to hear this song many times.
My grandpa was a Scottish fiddler (who used to order one or the other of his six children to "chord along" with him on the piano and rebuke them for every misplaced chord) and this brought back wonderful memories to me of sitting in their living room with all the relatives, and singing along or just listening together.
Everything "fits" in this song just right - the song sounds like it's always been here. That's something I'd love to accomplish in my own songwriting some day.
The melody is just lovely, and when you came in with the chorus in sweet harmony near the end, it almost brought me to tears.

Hi Laura,
I'm real glad that you like the tune. My father was also a Scottish fiddler as well as a classical violinist. I used to love hearing him play tunes from Winston "Scotty" Fitzgerald's LP. Many of my tunes, I like to sound "authentic" and with others, I like to break the tradition and rock them up a little bit. As you could see or hear, this one was on the "authentic" side.
My father was the same with my sister and I, demanding that we stop what we were doing and chord with him. My sister would sometimes cop an attitude causing my father to tap the top of her head with the tip of his bow. It was comical to watch.
Thanks for listening and for following me. I'm now following you too.
Have a great holiday week!
